Combining the latest in compact VR/MR technology with an advanced aerial simulation platform, Prepar3D®, FS3D adds custom Voice over IP (VOIP) technology in a highly accurate aircraft radio simulator to create a real communications experience for role players. Anticipated wildfire location scenarios or after-fire recreations offer an ideal environment to test incident command strategies and tactics for effective and efficient future missions.

Real-Time, Zero-Risk, Multi-User Interaction

Aerial supervisors, airtanker pilots, helicopter pilots and ground crews all interact with each other in the same simulation just as they would in the real world — but without the risk and expense of flying real aircraft in the same congested, turbulent real-world airspace. The FS3D platform allows for flexible year-round training opportunities, providing users anytime access to exercises at home or on the road, while lowering expenses and aircraft maintenance costs.

Wildfire Science & Instruction Integration

Based on decades of wildland firefighting experience, wildfire/smoke propagation and visualization models provide realistic fire behavior and visibility conditions. Virtual resources such as heavy equipment and crews create firelines at rates and with effectiveness defined by authoritative sources. Instruction and training align FS3D’s functionality with National Wildfire Coordinating Group position qualification requirements.

Customized Flight Platforms and Configurations

FS3D provides highly accurate and tuned virtual cockpits and virtual flight dynamics for every wildfire aircraft in operation today. Specific characteristics can also be replicated from aircraft modified for fire work, including avionics modifications, retardant/suppressant tanks, intelligence equipment, and true-to-life paint jobs. The increased realism, even during water/retardant release, greatly enhances pilot immersion and contributes to more effective training.
